From cans to courses: a self-sustaining cycle

Every Can Counts U.S. has launched its golf course recycling program at East Potomac Golf Links in Washington, D.C., in partnership with National Links Trust. The new initiative makes it easier for golfers and visitors to recycle aluminum beverage cans — and helps keep valuable materials out of landfills and in the circular economy.

This year-long pilot brings DC-themed aluminum recycling cages, new recycling bins, and educational signage to one of the nation’s most beloved public golf destinations. The installation celebrates the power of aluminum recycling and encourages everyone on the course to make every can count.

Every can collected at East Potomac Golf Links is redeemed for its scrap aluminum value through Potomac Metals, Inc., the program’s local recycling partner. All proceeds are reinvested into the golf course to fund future sustainability initiatives and events — making the program truly self-sustaining.
