For the third year running, our Greek chapter Kathe Kouti Metrai joined forces with AMSTEL beer and the organisers of Helmos Mountain Festival to bring the message of drink can recycling to the heart of one of Greece’s most breathtaking landscapes.

From the festival stages to the gondolas and back, our team was on the ground helping festivalgoers recycle every empty can during four full days of music, energy, and environmental action. Equipped with our signature recycling backpacks and the giant metal bins spelling out H E L M O S, our recycling ambassadors once again made it easy for attendees to recycle on the go. The impact was real: 100 kilograms of aluminium, or 8,333 drink cans, were collected and recycled, saving nearly 1 tonne of CO₂ emissions.

All cans collected during the festival were delivered directly to Elval, the aluminium rolling division of ElvalHalcor, where they were recycled in line with international standards and advanced technologies that ensure environmentally responsible aluminium recycling. What’s more, those same cans could be back on shelves as brand-new drink cans in just 60 days. And thanks to this year’s recycling effort, all proceeds were donated to support We4All’s reforestation initiatives, proving that every can makes a difference.

Once again, the H E L M O S letter installation became a highlight of the festival, not just a recycling station, but a powerful symbol of what can happen when we act collectively for the environment. Because recycling aluminium can save 95% of the energy required to make a new can from primary materials. It reduces CO₂, conserves natural resources, and helps build a more sustainable future. That’s why every can we recycle, really counts.
