By visiting more than 25 beaches, walking 260 km of shoreline, placing 79 Every Can Counts recycling bins in bars and restaurants, reaching 5.585 people and collecting 2.550 aluminium cans, Chaque Canette Compte completed the first stop of the summer tour in Guadeloupe and the first-ever can recycling activation in Overseas France.

For one week, from April 15 to April 24, our French team with the support of CITEO, was roaming the most popular beaches of Guadeloupe on one mission: to raise awareness about the importance of proper waste disposal in public spaces and collect as many drink cans as possible.

Equipped with colorful backpacks and a new generation of rolling baskets for collection, the Every Can Counts recycling ambassadors were interacting with the vacationers spreading the message of the infinite recyclability of aluminium while helping them recycle their empties on the spot.

This exotic recycling tour was well received by media outlets and inspired local non-governmental organizations to plan long term actions about the environmental protection of the island, with Chaque Canette Compte and CITEO supporting them at every step of the way.

One of the greatest shows on earth in the marvelous city of Rio is taking place from April 20 to April 30 this year. From samba dances to parades and glittering costumes, the biggest carnival in the world is a lifetime experience that attracts millions of people from around the globe. And when it comes to getting our hands dirty and keeping the cycle going at major events, we can’t say no! Cada Lata Conta, our team in Brazil will be there!

Starting a new partnership with the Association of Collectors of Jardim Gramacho (ACAMJG) and the Independent League of Samba Schools of Rio de Janeiro (LIESA), Cada Lata Conta will be at the Rio 2022 Carnival as a part of a remarkable project to ensure every drink can is separately collected and recycled. A team of 60 recycling ambassadors, ”catadores”, equipped with the Every Can Counts backpacks will raise awareness about the benefits of recycling and encourage more people to recycle their empties while having fun at the carnival.

Using flags, totems and biodegradable bags, Cada Lata Conta’s goal is simple: to collect and sort 100% of the consumed beverage cans as well as to educate people about the importance of recycling, sustainability and proper waste disposal. This major activation will take place during the carnival’s parade days in Sambódromo da Marquês da Sapucaí, a parade area specifically built for the Rio carnival.

From April 1st to April 3rd, Every Can Counts Romania joined forces with Bicycle Salon in Bucharest. While at the biggest exhibition that is dedicated to cycling enthusiasts, our team launched an open invitation to inspire more people to recycle their drink cans and spread the message about the infinite life cycle of aluminium.

But that wasn’t all! The total amount  from  the cans collected was donated to the ‘’Red Cross’’ for refugee relief campaigns. To boost the recycling efforts during the three-day event, Every Can Counts Romania launched numerous social media campaigns encouraging people to collect as many aluminum cans as possible prior to the event and bring them to the Every Can Counts Recycling Gate, an installation made out of aluminum cans in the form of a gate. This installation was used as a mobile collecting point. The Recycling Gate is a replica of the artwork ‘’The Gate of the Kiss’’ of the world renowned Romanian sculptor Constantin Brancuși, the most important sculptor of the 20th century, and is part of an ensemble of three sculptures. The other two  are  ‘’The Endless Column’’ and ‘’The Table’’.

Visitors were also invited to join the CAN GAMES! By arranging the cubes and finding the right solution, participants had the chance to win prizes on the spot. Also, the eye-catching Every Can Counts recycling bicycles were at the spotlight of the event, keeping people in shape while also giving them the opportunity to help the environment through fun activities. Participants who were able to compress at least 50 cans won prizes on the spot. Every Can Counts volunteers were also there, equipped with colorful backpacks on one mission: to ensure the separate collection of every aluminum can.

The Bicycle Salon, the yearly outdoor event, was hosted by the largest mall in Eastern Europe, Baneasa Shopping City parking lot.

34 return vending machines have been installed in SPAR stores in Hungary to recycle for charity

From  March 31, Minden Doboz Visszajár, the Every Can Counts initiative in Hungary, launched a recycling campaign that invites people to return their drink cans to the reverse vending machine and give to a good cause.

In partnership with SPAR Hungary, the second largest retail company in the country,  the “Your Can, your Donation” campaign gives recyclers the unique opportunity to turn their drink cans into tangible support: help “Magyar Máltai Szeretetszolgálat” (Hungarian Maltese Charity Service) to organize summer camps for children with disabilities and vulnerable families. Shoppers in 34 SPAR stores now have the option to select “Magyar Máltai Szeretetszolgálat”  as the donation recipient for their drink can deposit refund and make a real difference:  by donating their drink can, they are stopping it from going into the environment, but also having great benefits for their community.

The launch campaign was promoted by popular Hungarian influencers who not only recycled their cans at the reverse vending machines but also encouraged their audience to be part of the initiative. More than 1.000 drink cans per day were collected during the first week, and the numbers grow fast as this simple concept makes recycling attractive to consumers, benefits the environment, and gives back to society.

An exotic Recycling Tour: Chaque Canette Compte to recycle every can in Guadeloupe 1904 573 adminEirini

Chaque Canette Compte is launching its Recycling Tour for the second consecutive year. This time, the recycling ambassadors of our programme will not only carry out a real Tour de France by visiting popular beaches during summer but are also travelling to Guadeloupe for the first-ever can recycling activation in Overseas France.

Supported by Citeo, the Chaque Canette Compte team will literally criss-cross the busiest beaches of Guadeloupe during the Easter holidays, from April the 15th to 24th. Equipped with the ECC signature backpacks and a new generation of rolling-baskets for collection, painted in the colours of the programme, the teams will surely be spotted by the bathers! What is their mission? To collect as many drink cans as possible, while raising awareness among vacationers about the infinite recyclability of aluminium.

Drink cans are highly consumed by the local population and visitors during this season and this makes it a great opportunity to educate consumers about the right ways of sorting and drink can recycling, through incentives and participatory collection. More than 4.8 billion cans are consumed in France each year. Chaque Canette Compte already covers all of metropolitan France with 66 local collecting partners which recycle cans in 8.500 OOH places, and now aims to help “close the loop” of recycling in the overseas regions where recycling awareness is a top priority.

Cada Lata Cuenta launches a recycling campaign in Las Fallas

The Spanish team of Every Can Counts has participated for the first time in Las Fallas, launching a recycling campaign during the festivities to raise awareness about the importance of putting one’s empties in the right bin. Las Fallas, one of the most beautiful festivals in Spain and an UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage since 2016, takes place in the capital of the Valencian Community every year from 15 to 19 March.

Every spring, this super-festival attracts many locals and foreigners to celebrate Saint Joseph with the creation and destruction of ninots (caricature pieces inspired from current social issues). This year, Cada Lata Cuenta joined forces with the festival’s organizers to help keep the cycle going with educational  posters about recycling along with the Every Can Counts backpackers who encouraged visitors to recycle their drink cans during the festival.

A highlight of the event was a ninot made by a local artist about the recycling campaign “Metal Never Dies”. The sculpture represented a rock star recycling beverage cans, just like the Spanish legends who partnered with Cada Lata Cuenta to create the recycling rock anthem. This fallas recycling campaign continues, driven by the objective of the program which lies in raising awareness through emotions, art and culture.

“Metal Never Dies” campaign continues reaching  people and spreading the message about the infinite life cycle of aluminium. Promoting sustainability and a more circular world through rock music, this creative initiative has received the best video award at the Rockferéndum of La Heavy magazine.

The colourful recycled art installation is spending 2 weeks on display in the Covent Garden Piazza.

Every Can Counts UK has partnered with Covent Garden London to bring The #EveryCanCounts Rainbow to one of the capital’s most iconic and busiest locations.

The eye-catching installation, created from over 2,500 recycled cans, will be on display in the Covent Garden Piazza until the 30th of March. The signage surrounding the installation invites people to learn about the infinite life cycle of drink cans and passers-by can also recycle their empty cans in the ‘pots of gold’ at each end of the rainbow.

The installation was unveiled in Covent Garden on Thursday 17th March, ahead of Global Recycling Day on the 18th. A team of Every Can Counts recycling ambassadors wearing can recycling backpacks also supported the launch of the campaign. The ambassadors conducted face-to-face recycling surveys with people during the first four days of the campaign, helping to communicate the benefits of can recycling and inspire positive behaviour change.

Upcycling contest: Jede Dose zählt & HTL Bregenz school showcase the many faces of recycling

Upcycling contest: Jede Dose zählt & HTL Bregenz school showcase the many faces of recycling 1902 569 adminEirini

Environmental protection is an intergenerational project that is about each and every individual being able to contribute to a more sustainable planet. One way is to properly separate waste in order to bring back recyclables into their cycle. Especially with drinks cans, this is crucial because recycling aluminum requires 95% less energy than producing new material. In addition, beverage cans can be recycled infinitely and turn into new cans or a wide range of other products. To show the broad possibilities and use cases our team Jede Dose zählt organized an upcycling challenge at the technical school HTL Bregenz in Austria.

“It was not easy, but I learned a lot”

All students were invited to create something new (and maybe useful) from empty beverage cans collected in their school – with no limits to creativity. In the end, a jury awarded prizes to the most extraordinary ideas. First place went to Marc and Ali for their “Cancrusher 2000”. Their main goal was to not only create something new out of cans but to produce something that helps in the recycling process of cans. Second prize was won by Alexa, who built a ship out of almost 30 cans. Third and fourth place went to Niklas, Maximilian and Patrick for a can smoker and a mini grill. All students agreed that the challenge was not easy, but they gained a lot of knowledge about aluminium and its characteristics. Anyhow it was worth the work. The lucky winners have been awarded attractive prizes – from aluminium bicycles to skiing passes.

Every Can Counts at HTL Bregenz

Already last year, HTL Bregenz – a school in the western part of Austria – started the cooperation with our team Jede Dose zählt. After a survey among their students, they saw a large interest in recycling projects and contacted the recycling initiative. Branded bins and posters inform students about drink can recycling and offer them the possibility to collect this precious raw material in separate bins in order to keep the cycle of recycling going.

Every Can Counts UK Announces New Partnership with Canned Wine Co.

Every Can Counts UK Announces New Partnership with Canned Wine Co. 1024 1024 adminEirini

Every Can Counts UK has announced its latest brand partnership with premium canned wine producer, Canned Wine Co.

Our team and the canned wine company will work together to help inspire and encourage drink can recycling amongst consumers in the UK.

Founded in 2019 by the trio, Simon Rollings, Lisa Solovieva and Ben Franks, Canned Wine Co. aims to make exciting and high-quality wine more convenient and accessible to drinkers in portioned cans, whilst also helping to reduce the environmental impact of wine by using aluminium packaging.

The award-winning Bath-based business has grown rapidly over the past two years – increasing its range to six wines, supplying the National Trust sites and hundreds of independent venues across the UK, and expanding to Ireland, Sweden, The Netherlands and Greece.

Simon Rollings, co-founder and CEO of Canned Wine Co., said: “Reducing waste, both wine wastage and packaging, is at the core of our brand. The infinite recyclability and lower carbon footprint compared to bottles made cans the obvious packaging choice.

As canned wines are frequently consumed in outdoor settings, we want to explicitly encourage the recycling of aluminium cans. The partnership with Every Can Counts is an important pillar of our upcoming sustainability strategy, and we are excited to use Every Can Counts bins at events around the country to help more cans enter the recycling loop.”

Chris Latham-Warde, Programme Manager for Every Can Counts UK, said: “We’re so pleased to be able to announce our latest drink brand partnership with Canned Wine Co. Their mission to bring more sustainable choices to consumers and the drink industry really resonates with what Every Can Counts is all about.

“We’re looking forward to working with Canned Wine Co. to raise awareness about the endless recyclability of drink cans and encourage people to do their bit to keep the cycle going.”

Every Can Counts collaborates with drink manufacturers as well as the wider drink can and recycling industries as part of its mission to reach a 100% drink can recycling rate.

The programme and its funders help to raise awareness of the importance of recycling empty drink cans with marketing activity and on-the-ground consumer engagement. This includes exhibiting an eye-catching Every Can Counts rainbow installation made from recycled cans, which has appeared in multiple high-profile locations across the country and was most recently in Glasgow during COP26.

Every Can Counts UK also runs a Green Can Award scheme which recognises the recycling efforts of local businesses, community groups and charities. The programme also works to make it easier for consumers to recycle their empty cans while they’re out-of-home, and its team of ambassadors spread the recycling message and collect cans at many festivals and public events throughout the year.
