By visiting more than 25 beaches, walking 260 km of shoreline, placing 79 Every Can Counts recycling bins in bars and restaurants, reaching 5.585 people and collecting 2.550 aluminium cans, Chaque Canette Compte completed the first stop of the summer tour in Guadeloupe and the first-ever can recycling activation in Overseas France.

For one week, from April 15 to April 24, our French team with the support of CITEO, was roaming the most popular beaches of Guadeloupe on one mission: to raise awareness about the importance of proper waste disposal in public spaces and collect as many drink cans as possible.

Equipped with colorful backpacks and a new generation of rolling baskets for collection, the Every Can Counts recycling ambassadors were interacting with the vacationers spreading the message of the infinite recyclability of aluminium while helping them recycle their empties on the spot.

This exotic recycling tour was well received by media outlets and inspired local non-governmental organizations to plan long term actions about the environmental protection of the island, with Chaque Canette Compte and CITEO supporting them at every step of the way.

Chaque Canette Compte is launching its Recycling Tour for the second consecutive year. This time, the recycling ambassadors of our programme will not only carry out a real Tour de France by visiting popular beaches during summer but are also travelling to Guadeloupe for the first-ever can recycling activation in Overseas France.

Supported by Citeo, the Chaque Canette Compte team will literally criss-cross the busiest beaches of Guadeloupe during the Easter holidays, from April the 15th to 24th. Equipped with the ECC signature backpacks and a new generation of rolling-baskets for collection, painted in the colours of the programme, the teams will surely be spotted by the bathers! What is their mission? To collect as many drink cans as possible, while raising awareness among vacationers about the infinite recyclability of aluminium.

Drink cans are highly consumed by the local population and visitors during this season and this makes it a great opportunity to educate consumers about the right ways of sorting and drink can recycling, through incentives and participatory collection. More than 4.8 billion cans are consumed in France each year. Chaque Canette Compte already covers all of metropolitan France with 66 local collecting partners which recycle cans in 8.500 OOH places, and now aims to help “close the loop” of recycling in the overseas regions where recycling awareness is a top priority.
