ABOUT US

Every Can Counts UAE is an innovative behaviour-change initiative working to inspire, encourage and empower people to recycle their empty drink cans.

Why? Because every recycled can helps preserve the Earth’s resources, save energy and greenhouse gas emissions, creating a more sustainable future for everyone.

We are passionate about the infinite recyclability of aluminium and our mission is to raise awareness about the importance of recycling drink cans in an engaging way.

Every Can Counts began in the UK in 2009, and now has presence in 18 countries in Europe, plus Brazil, the USA and the UAE. Over the years, the programme engaged with dozens of drink brands, hundreds of events, thousands of organisations and millions of consumers.

The launch of the Every Can Counts UAE chapter has been made possible thanks to a partnership between Emirates Global Aluminium and drink cans producers Crown and CANPACK Middle East.

Our vision is to collect and recycle EVERY drink can in the UAE.

WHAT WE DO

Our job is to help you recycle every drink can wherever you consume them!

We work with organisations, events and volunteers to communicate the benefits of recycling drink cans and improve out-of-home can recycling collection.

We deliver engaging and inspirational communications that encourage people not only to recycle, but to think differently about the value of their empty drink can.

WHY EVERY
CAN COUNTS

Aluminium recycles forever – all drink cans are endlessly recyclable.

It takes 95% less energy to make a can from recycled aluminium.

Every can recycled reduces the carbon footprint of the next one made.

Only about 30% of aluminium drink cans are recycled in the UAE every year. More than 440 million aluminium cans currently end up in landfill sites in the UAE annually.

The UAE COP28 Presidency and global aluminium industry leaders set a target to reach at least 80 per cent aluminium drink can recycling by 2030 and near 100 per cent by 2050.

Recycling cans saves natural resources as well as energy and carbon emissions.
