Bucharest, Wednesday 16 December 2015: Aluminium Can Recycling Romania (ALUCRO) awarded the best creations of the Can Art & Design Festival at the Gala Awards for a Clean Environment, in the presence of special guests from the board of Every Can Counts Romania, which is part of the European Every Can Counts programme. The key aim of Every Can Counts is to enable and encourage more people to collect and recycle drinks cans consumed out-of-home, e.g. at workplaces or at events such as music festivals and sport events.
Between December 2014 and February 2015 Every Can Counts Romania ran an awareness campaign for citizens on the collection and recycling of aluminum cans in Cora stores in Bucharest, in partnership with the Green Group, a waste recycling company.
The public voting for the “jede Dose zaehlt” (Every Can Counts) CanBag design 2015 has started, and will be open until May 8th 2015. 112 designs about can recycling were submitted by many school classes, students and people of all age, who are aware of sustainability. Now the community has to decide: Which design features the most accurate and up-to-date idea and shows how important drinks can recycling is? Everyone can vote for their favourite design and increase its chances, and every voter also gets the chance to win one of the fancy „jede Dose zaehlt“ USB sticks.
Eight organisations across the United Kingdom have been presented with a ‘Green Can Award’ by drinks can recycling programme Every Can Counts.
Every Can Counts together with IBM Romania and Romprest ran the first Can Design Festival in November, and created the first ‘city’ in Romania made entirely of used drink cans.
